Skimcoating in
Bathroom
This bathroom was built in the 1920s and had the
original plaster on the ceiling and walls.
Through time and humidity, deteriation had caused
cracking. In bathrooms, special attention has to
be taken to ensure longitivity against water
damage. We utilized durabond compound to ensure
that it will withstand humidity. Plaster cracks
and chips of paint in the walls and ceiling were
typical challenges of an old bathroom. The owners
wanted to keep the bathroom as original as
possible..
We started by putting fiberglass
tape on all the cracks to ensure that they do not
reappear again. Then we skimcoated the walls with
plaster.
Then we skimcoated the walls and
ceilings with plaster.
Done. Ready to paint.
Old bathroom as new.
